I-LINK Project (Innovations and linkages in postabortion care and post-abortion family planning). This was a one-year Project funded by International Planned Parenthood Federation via Fos Feminista.

FIGO PPH Project:  Improving access to essential medicines to reduce PPH morbidity and mortality (IAP)

2021 –2022.

Improving Access to Safe Reproductive Health Services in Uganda. The project was aimed at training health Providers in Harm Reduction and Life Exceptions to mitigate unsafe abortion for Mityana, Mubende, Kawolo and Mukono Hospitals.

2018 to 2022.

Increasing options for postabortion care, medical abortion and contraception in women with unwanted pregnancies – The Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF) funded Expanding options for safe abortion and family planning project is a healthcare provider training and community mobilization intervention to address the burden of abortion morbidity (through training on comprehensive abortion care, postabortion family planning and abortion harm reduction) in 10 facilities in Kampala and Wakiso districts of Uganda.

2017 to 2019

The Helping Mothers Survive Bleeding after birth (HMS-BAB) project was a FIGO and WHO funded cluster –randomized interventional trial of healthcare provider education in reducing maternal death and severe maternal morbidity from postpartum hemorrhage and unsafe abortion.

2016 to 2019.

The abortion harm reduction training, a IPPF funded capacity building project for training and on-job mentorship of 150 healthcare providers in 2 regional referral health facilities (Masaka and Mbarara hospitals) on harm reduction approaches for safe abortion Extension of the project worth.

2015 to 2016

The Low Dose High Frequency training in postabortion care was a training project funded by JHPIEGO to train 30 healthcare providers in Wakiso and Mukono districts, along with 18 trainers of trainees, through facility-based training in postabortion care.

2014 to 2015.

The Women’s Health Project – involved training midwives in private health units in 20 districts on Postabortion care and family planning especially postpartum Intrauterine device insertions; funded by MERCK for Mothers (MUM), subcontracted by Merck Sharp and Dohme through PACE

2012 to 2015

The FIGO-GATES Institutional Strengthening Project was a project that involved Maternal and Perinatal Death Review (MPDR) including abortion-related deaths, advocacy, and policy meetings at MOH, training and capacity building

 

2012 to 2014

Saving Mother Giving Life (SMGL) project, was a 3-year project with a grant from the United States Government which  implemented with various stakeholders who included Centre for Disease Control (CDC), USAID, Peace Corps, National Institute of health, US Department of Défense, the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Uganda, Baylor Uganda, and the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI). The goal of the project was to reduce maternal mortality by 50% in the 4 districts of Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kibale and Kamwenge.

2004-2007

Community mobilization for Sexual and Reproductive rights approach to safe motherhood in Kiboga and Kibale districts. Financed by Canadian Justice Fund. Maternal health awareness of communities was increased using drama groups, school children and community discussions led by AOGU members. A community financing scheme that would support birth planning and emergency preparedness is being piloted in 2 sub-counties in Kiboga.

1999 – 2003

Implementation of a district wide initiative in Kiboga District to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity through offering emergency obstetric care. Financed by FIGO, SOGC. As of 2003 Kiboga district had increased EmOC services, and the community had increased their awareness on prevention of maternal mortality.
