Continued Medical Education
AOGU provides ample opportunities for health professionals to upgrade their skills and knowledge, through various Continued Medical Education activities.
Workshops and educational sessions are offered to AOGU members, which include a variety of topics, such as:
- Emergency Contraception
- Neonatal Resuscitation
- Fistula repair
- Reproductive health
- Sexual and reproductive rights
- Postpartum IntraUterine Device (PPID)
The ALARM (Advances in Labour and Risk Management) International Program is also promoted throughout Uganda and AOGU encourages all members to take advantage of this training in Emergency Obstetric Care. To date, over 300 obstetricians, gynaecologists and midwives in Uganda have been trained in EmOC through the ALARM International Program.

An Annual Scientific Congress is also organized for AOGU members, to allow for knowledge exchange through presentations, workshop sessions and informal gatherings. These conferences bring together close to 200 AOGU members each year, from various fields of study and regions of Uganda.

AOGU welcomes collaborations with pharmaceutical companies who wish to sponsor a CME activity and to present their products at the event. This opportunity allows companies to address a large audience of health professionals and also provides the funding necessary for AOGU to carry out the activities.
